    Root Canal Treatment

Underneath the protective outer layers of the tooth is a substance known as the pulp. When the outer layers are damaged, the pulp can become inflamed or infected, which may be extremely painful. In some cases, there is no pain and the problem can develop into an abscess or cyst.

The best option for dealing with this is a Root Canal Treatment (RCT). It involves removing the damaged pulp but root canal treatment wiganleaving the surrounding tooth, rather than extracting the entire tooth which might otherwise be necessary. The remaining tooth can then be cared for in the same way as your other teeth: with regular cleaning and routine check-ups with your dentist.

One of the most common questions we are asked by patients is, “Is root canal treatment painful?” and the answer is no! Modern anaesthetics used by your dentist are highly effective, so you should feel no pain and minimal discomfort during the treatment. We are a handful of dental practices that have The Wand for our clients for pain free dentistry.

After the treatment, the area around the tooth may feel tender or sensitive for a few days due to inflammation. This can be easily treated with normal painkillers available over the counter and should wear off within a few days, along with any swelling.

Our team of dentists are highly experienced in routine dental treatments like these. If you need root canal treatment, your dentist will advise you on how this will be carried out based on your individual needs.
